Personal Entry #3: Approaching Romanticism!

Artists, or "romantics," during the ever so creative movement of Romanticism, were all about deepened appreciation.  The way that artists went about creating was very interesting.  Poets such as William Wordsworth looked deeper into the meaning of different aspects of nature, and developed their own meanings of life through them.  They established a certain set of emotions and paired them with naturist views.  For example, in "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud," Wordsworth got his idea to write the poem when staring into a field of daffodils.  Recently, in English 102, our professor assigned the class to go to the library and write a poem based off of different findings.  I have come to the realization that, not only was the assignment a great and creative idea, but it vividly relates to the artists of Romanticism.  The Treasure Hunt Poetry assignment asked for students to go around and find three words, a random poem, and a random painting, only to then sit down and write our own poem based off solely those three things.  Interesting, to say the least, and incredibly productive.  When completing the assignment, I gained a deeper appreciation of different poetry, paintings, and the library itself.  The assignment relates to romanticism in so may ways.  When romantics went out to be inspired to write, they too gained a deeper appreciation for very simple things.  Romantics also sought to nature to be influenced, where at the time technology was the public's major interest.  This is very similar to society right now.  Students rarely ever visit a library to gain resources, because of the internet, or in other words, the growing technology.  It's quite rare for a student to go about the assignment in the way that our professor assigned us to.  This allowed for the appreciative vibe when searching for poems and paintings in actual books.  Looking at these simple things in the world around us, can seriously allow students to gain a sense of appreciation.  Therefore, I believe that the Treasure Hunt Poetry assignment relates to so many aspects of romanticism, with the way students were told to go about it.
